CommUNITY AmeriCorps assists low-income individuals and families reach their individual potential and build self-sufficiency, to promote a community-wide ethic of service, and to help build community sustainability in Lincoln, Nebraska.
LFS (Lutheran Family Services) AmeriCorps approaches the issue of creating self-sufficient communities from multiple angles. LFS AmeriCorps offers resources to small or rural communities and under served populations in order to foster strong programs and sustainable services. The role of LFS AmeriCorps varies at each host site, but the focus on self-sufficiency is constant. Service is in areas of immigrant and refugee services, youth enrichment, community building, and education.
MMI (Munroe Meyer Institute) AmeriCorps program is designed to provide services with and for people with disabilities. MMI AmeriCorps is a state-wide program in Nebraska that serves individuals with behavioral, developmental, cognitive, and physical disabilities. The program emphasizes utilizing the talents of persons with disabilities and currently has seven members with disabling conditions.
RISE (Rural Improvement for Schooling & Employment) AmeriCorps members work with offenders in rural areas to reduce recidivism through improving education and employment opportunities.
Star City Treasures AmeriCorps members focus on homework assistance, literacy, social activities, nutrition, cultural activities and recreation activities.
